Jonas Vingegaard confirmed at Volta ao Algarve 2025!

It is with great excitement that we announce the participation of Jonas Vingegaard in the 51st edition of the Volta ao Algarve, taking place from February 19 to 23, 2025. The Danish cyclist, a two-time Tour de France champion in 2022 and 2023, has chosen this prestigious Portuguese race to kick off his season, marking his debut in competitions in Portugal.
Vingegaard, representing Team Visma | Lease a Bike, has set his sights on reclaiming the Tour de France title in 2025. To prepare, he will start his training in the Algarve, joined by Belgian cyclist Wout van Aert, also confirmed by the Dutch team.
The 2025 Volta ao Algarve promises a stellar lineup, featuring other cycling stars such as Primož Roglič (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe), Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor Pro Cycling), Geraint Thomas (INEOS Grenadiers), and Portuguese rider João Almeida (UAE Team Emirates-XRG).
Jonas Vingegaard, 28 years old, gained international recognition after consecutive victories at the Tour de France in 2022 and 2023.
In 2024, he faced a major challenge following a severe crash at Itzulia, which resulted in multiple fractures and a pneumothorax. Despite this setback, he demonstrated remarkable resilience, securing second place in that year’s Tour de France.
Vingegaard’s participation in the Volta ao Algarve not only enhances the prestige of the event but also offers Portuguese fans a unique opportunity to witness one of contemporary cycling’s greatest talents up close. The competition will feature 25 teams, including 13 WorldTeams, solidifying its status as one of the top races in the UCI ProSeries circuit.
