These terms and conditions are valid for all AlgarveCycling cycling holidays. By using any part of our website or sharing your personal information with us, you are accepting and consenting to the practices described in our Privacy Policy.

The Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, together with other information provided during the booking, form your contract with AlgarveCycling. By confirming your booking, you agree fully to these terms.

  1. Purpose
    1. These Terms and Conditions govern the cycling holiday services provided by Lisa Bikes Lda., operating under the brand AlgarveCycling. Lisa Bikes Lda. is a company registered in Portugal and licensed by the national tourism authorities under RNAVT 5114 and RNAAT 1296/2024 ("we", "us", or "our"). Lisa Bikes Lda. is the sole provider and fulfiller of all services offered via the website algarvecycling.com.
    2. The website is operated by WorldCycling LLC, which acts as a marketing and booking intermediary for Lisa Bikes Lda. While it supports the presentation and handling of bookings and customer interactions, all contractual obligations, liability, and service delivery rest exclusively with Lisa Bikes Lda.
    3. By making a booking through this website, you enter into a direct contractual relationship with Lisa Bikes Lda. These Terms and Conditions, together with the Privacy Policy and any written information provided at the time of booking, form the basis of your agreement (the “Contract”).
    4. In these Terms and Conditions, references to ‘you’ and ‘your’ means the first named person on the booking, who shall be the lead name and all persons named on the booking (including anyone who is later added or substituted), or any one of them, as applicable. The lead name shall be responsible for the administration and correspondence in regard to the booking and warrants that they have the authority to make the booking (and any amendments and/or cancellations) on behalf of all the persons named in the booking. In making a booking with us, the lead name is regarded as having read, understood and agreed to these Terms and Conditions on behalf of themselves and everyone else in the booking and shall be liable for:
      1. the full payment of any deposits, in addition to any outstanding balances;
      2. the payment of any amendment fees or cancellation charges;
      3. confirming all participant details to us including, without limitation, the size and type of bicycle that each person in your booking requires, the room arrangements that your booking requires and, in case you have booked transfers with us, details of your outbound and inbound travel arrangements. If this information is not provided to us within the requested timeframes, then we may not be able to provide or perform your booking, in whole or in part; and
      4. the passing on to all participants of any and all information issued by us, including - but not limited to - copies of our invoices and these Terms and Conditions;
      5. the conduct of the persons in the booking (see clauses 10 (Our Liability to you) and 11 (Behaviour)).
  2. Making a Booking
    1. Prior to making a booking, please read the service descriptions on our website and these Terms and Conditions in full. If you have any questions please contact us for clarification.
    2. To make a booking you must have read, understood and agreed to these Terms and Conditions, be over 18 and send us a completed booking form via our website. An advance payment of 200 € per person per booking is required to confirm your booking. We will acknowledge receipt of your booking request by email within 1-5 working days. The contract between us shall come into existence once we have issued a confirmation email to you and we have received your advance payment in cleared funds. We reserve the right not to accept your booking at any time up until we have issued a confirmation invoice to you and, in this event, we will refund any advance payment that you have paid to us. If you notice any errors or incomplete information regarding your booking on the email or in your account on the AlgarveCycling website, please contact us immediately at info@algarvecycling.com, as it may not be possible to make changes or corrections at a later stage, without incurring amendment charges.
    3. The remaining balance is due according to the following timelines:
      1. for Individual Tours: no later than 30 days prior to the rental start date; and
      2. for Group Tours: no later than 60 days prior to the rental start date.
    4. Payments can be made via bank transfer or credit card. All amounts are in Euros and inclusive of VAT.
    5. Any costs of monetary transactions, especially for transfers in foreign currencies, will be borne by the traveller.
  3. Bicycle Rental
    1. Bicycle rental is not automatically included in the standard tour package but can be easily added to your booking if required. AlgarveCycling offers a wide range of high-quality bicycles for rent, allowing you to enjoy your tour without the hassle of transporting your own bike. Detailed descriptions, specifications, and tour-specific rental prices for all available models are published on our website. Alternatively, you may choose to use your own bicycle for the tour.
    2. All bicycle rentals are subject to availability and covered by AlgarveCycling’s separate Terms & Conditions for Bike Rentals. By booking a cycling holiday that includes bicycle rental, you confirm your acceptance of these conditions alongside your holiday booking terms.
  4. Amendment or Cancellation by You
    1. If you wish to change any part of your booking after we have issued a confirmation email/invoice to you (for example your chosen start date, rental period or bicycle type), the lead name on the booking must inform us in writing by email as soon as possible. Whilst we will do our best to make the requested changes to your booking, it may not always be possible to do so. Where we can make the requested changes, you may be required to pay additional charges to cover any extra costs incurred as a result of the changes, such as if you request to switch to a higher-priced bicycle or request any other upgrade or service with a higher cost.
    2. It may not be possible to change certain elements of your booking that have already been contracted to one of our suppliers (e.g. transfers) and, if you have requested for any of those elements to be changed, a cancellation charge of up to 100% for that element of your booking may be charged.
    3. If the amendment results in fewer people in your booking, then the total price payable for the booking will be adjusted accordingly based on the lower number of people in the booking, which may result in an increase in price per remaining person. Cancellation fees will also be payable in regard to the people who have cancelled their place in the booking, as detailed in 3.4.
    4. You may cancel the rental at any time prior to its start date. Cancellation must be made in writing, and the following cancellation policies apply:
      1. For Individual Tours:
        1. Up to 28 days (inclusive) before start date: 200 € per person per booking
        2. Up to 21 days (inclusive) before start date: 40% of the package
        3. Up to 14 days (inclusive) before start date: 60% of the package
        4. Up to 7 days (inclusive) before start date: 80% of the package
        5. Up to 1 day (inclusive) before start date: 90% of the package
      2. For Group Tours:
        1. Up to 60 days (inclusive) before start date: 200 € per person per booking
        2. Up to 45 days (inclusive) before start date: 40% of the package
        3. Up to 28 days (inclusive) before start date: 60% of the package
        4. Up to 14 days (inclusive) before start date: 80% of the package
        5. Up to 1 day (inclusive) before start date: 90% of the package
    5. You can transfer a booking to another person, who satisfies all the conditions that apply to the booking, by the lead name giving us notice in writing as soon as possible before the booking start date. In this case, no cancellation compensation is required. The person(s) who the booking is being transferred to shall agree to these Terms and Conditions and the booking contract. Both the previous person in the booking and the person to whom the booking is being transferred to will be responsible for:
      1. full payment of the booking; and
      2. any other reasonable additional costs that we may incur arising from the transfer.
    6. If you are not available to complete your booking due to incapability (e.g. due to illness, premature return, etc.), you are not entitled to a pro-rata refund of the package price.
  5. Amendment or Cancellation by Us
    1. While we aim to deliver your trip exactly as booked, occasionally changes may be necessary. Accommodation is subject to availability and may need to be changed to an alternative of the same or higher standard where possible. Such changes will be communicated to you promptly. Changes of this nature are considered minor and do not entitle you to compensation.
    2. In rare cases, adjustments to the itinerary may be required due to weather conditions, unforeseen circumstances, operational requirements, or other factors beyond our control. If such adjustments become necessary, we will make suitable alternative arrangements and inform you as soon as reasonably possible.
    3. We reserve the right to make changes to any aspect of your booking at any time. In the unlikely event that a significant change becomes necessary, we will inform you promptly and offer suitable alternatives where possible.
    4. We may cancel your booking contract with immediate effect if you fail to pay the advance payment or balance according to the agreed payment terms. In this case, we reserve the right to withdraw from the contract unilaterally and charge the applicable termination fees/ cancellation fees as outlined in section 3.4.
  6. Unavoidable and Extraordinary Circumstances
    1. Except where otherwise expressly stated in these Terms and Conditions we will not be liable for any damage, loss, costs or other expenses incurred by you - or pay you compensation - where the performance or prompt performance of our contractual obligations to you are prevented, or affected by, or you otherwise suffer any damage, loss or expense of any nature, as a result of unavoidable and extraordinary events.
    2. Unavoidable and extraordinary events are events we could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Such events include, without limitation, war (whether actual or threatened), civil unrest, riot, strife, terrorist activity and/or its consequences or the threat of such activity, health risks, infectious disease, epidemics and pandemics and government measures to combat such outbreaks, riot, the act of any government or other national or local authority or the act of any airport, port or river authorities, unforeseeable technical problems with transport, airport, port or airspace closure restriction or congestion; flight or other travel restrictions imposed by any government, regulatory authority or other third party; industrial dispute, sanctions, lock closure, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, flood, adverse weather conditions, volcanic eruption, chemical or biological disaster, and all similar events outside our control.
  7. Your Liability
    1. Before the booking start date, you must ensure that all requirements are met for your booking, including full payment of the invoice amount by the agreed payment terms and checking and complying with all travel, passport, visa, entry, and health requirements applicable to your booking.
    2. Any travel arrangements, including flights and other products or services booked separately either before or during your holidays, are your responsibility and are not part of your contract with us. Any guidance we provide is for information only and must be checked by you, and we are not liable for their provision or anything that happens during their delivery.
    3. Our responsibility begins only at the designated meeting point and time. If you fail to arrive on time or choose not to use any part of your cycling holiday for any reason, we are not liable for any resulting costs, losses, or expenses, and no refund or compensation will be given for accommodation, services or features which were unused by you, or members of your booking.
    4. In making your booking with us, you accept:
      1. the risks and hazards of a cycling activity, including the dangers inherent in cycling either on the road or off the road, such as falls, collisions, and unpredictable road or trail conditions; and
      2. the potential for (among other things) delays, alterations, loss or damage to property, inconvenience and discomfort.
    5. Minors may participate only if accompanied by their parents and/or guardians.
    6. It is your responsibility to ensure that you and all members of your booking are fit and healthy enough to meet the physical requirements of active travel, which may include physical activity over several hours. Our services are unfortunately not suitable for travellers with reduced mobility.
    7. All persons included in the booking are responsible for complying with the local Highway Code and are strongly advised to wear a helmet and appropriate protective accessories during their ride.
  8. Disabilities and Medical Conditions
    1. If you or anyone in your booking has a medical condition, disability, or reduced mobility that may affect your holiday, you must inform us at the time of booking so we can advise on suitability. Please also let us know of any changes before departure. If we reasonably believe we cannot safely or properly accommodate specific needs, we reserve the right to decline or cancel the booking.
  9. Special Requests and Suitability
    1. Special requests, such as dietary needs or room preferences, must be made at the time of booking. While we will always try to meet reasonable requests, we cannot guarantee that they will be fulfilled and any failure to arrange a special request on our part shall not be deemed as being a breach of our contract with you. The inclusion of a request in your booking confirmation does not confirm it will be met, and bookings cannot be conditional on special requests being fulfilled.
    2. Our tour descriptions outline the difficulty level and general requirements to help you choose a trip that matches your abilities. However, other factors such as seasonal temperatures or weather conditions may also impact your experience. It is your responsibility to ensure you have read and understood these details before booking. Please contact us if you wish to discuss your suitability for a particular tour or have health considerations to disclose.
    3. We may decide that you cannot participate in certain parts of the holiday if we believe it would compromise your safety or the safety of others, or if we reasonably believe you would be unable to complete an activity within the scheduled time. In such cases, any additional arrangements or costs incurred will be your responsibility.
  10. Our Liability to You
    1. We will assume liability as part of our duty of care of a prudent businessman for the accuracy of the description of all services on this website, for the proper selection and placement of the service providers (hotels, transport companies, etc.), and a conscientious preparation and settlement. The basis for booking will be the descriptions of services applicable at the time of booking and/or any information stated on the booking confirmation/invoice.
    2. We are not liable for any injury, illness, death, damage, loss (direct or indirect, however caused), expense, cost, or claim of any kind arising from:
      1. acts or omissions by you or any member of your group;
      2. acts or omissions of third parties unconnected with the travel services included in your booking that were unforeseeable or unavoidable;
      3. unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances beyond our control, whose consequences could not have been avoided even with all reasonable measures;
      4. theft of bicycles or injuries resulting from cycling on or off road, including those caused by using your own personal equipment, or by failure to use appropriate safety equipment, such as helmets.
    3. Our liability, no matter the legal grounds (e.g., breach of contract, negligence, etc.), is capped. The maximum amount we would be responsible for paying in case of proven damages is three times the price of the service or product, if it can be proven that the damage was caused by us. If there are any objections or issues arising from unexpected circumstances, the customer must notify the company immediately in writing. This likely refers to unforeseen issues that could impact the service or product and might be grounds for a complaint or claim.
    4. Any activities, restaurants and/or other venues that we may refer to are not under our direct control and have not been inspected by us. Therefore, any mention of them is merely an indication that these facilities have proved popular with other guests and are not a personal recommendation by us, nor can we accept any liability for any damage, loss, cost, expense or other sum(s) of any description arising out of or as a result of any such activities, restaurants and/or other venues.
    5. AlgarveCycling strongly recommends that you obtain travel insurance to cover unforeseen events, cancellations, or medical emergencies. For details on AlgarveCycling's insurance options covering medical treatment, damage, roadside assistance, and bike theft, see item 14.
  11. Behaviour
    1. You and all members of your group are expected to behave in an orderly and respectful manner at all times. Your conduct must not negatively impact the enjoyment, safety, or wellbeing of other guests, AlgarveCycling staff, local communities, or service providers. This includes refraining from any behaviour that is discriminatory, threatening, abusive, sexually inappropriate, or otherwise disruptive or offensive.
    2. On guided tours, you agree to accept the authority and decisions of AlgarveCycling staff and tour guides at all times. If, in the opinion of AlgarveCycling staff, your guide, or any person in a position of authority (such as accommodation staff), your behaviour, health, or fitness before or during the tour is or appears likely to be dangerous, disruptive, unlawful, or detrimental to yourself or others, AlgarveCycling reserves the right to exclude you from part or all of the tour without refund or compensation. In such cases, AlgarveCycling will have no further responsibility towards you, including for any additional costs or return travel arrangements.
    3. You are responsible for your own safety and that of your group members. This includes, but is not limited to:
      1. Complying with all local laws and regulations
      2. Following all instructions provided by AlgarveCycling staff or guides
      3. Exercising caution while riding, especially during hours of darkness or in unfamiliar areas
      4. Avoiding riding alone in isolated locations
      5. Not engaging in behaviour while under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances that endangers yourself or others
    4. You are responsible for any damage or loss caused by you or any member of your group to accommodation, bicycles, vehicles, or equipment. Full payment for such damage or loss (reasonably estimated if the exact cost is not yet established) must be made directly to the accommodation or service provider or to AlgarveCycling as soon as possible. You will also be liable for any claims subsequently made against AlgarveCycling as a result of your actions, including related legal costs.
    5. If you commit any illegal act during your trip, AlgarveCycling reserves the right to terminate your participation without refund. In such cases, AlgarveCycling will have no further obligations towards you.
    6. In cases of serious misconduct or breach of these conduct standards, AlgarveCycling reserves the right to decline future bookings from you or any member of your group.
  12. Luggage Transfer
    1. Luggage transfer service is provided according to the conditions published on our website, which form part of these Terms and Conditions. AlgarveCycling cannot accept responsibility for cosmetic damage, missing items, or loss or damage to luggage or its contents during transfer.

    1. Before the rental start date, you need to ensure that all requirements are met for your booking (e.g. full payment of the invoice amount according to the agreed payment terms, independent arrival and departure to the place where the rental will start, compliance with all health regulations).
    2. Any and all travel arrangements to join or leave the trip are your responsibility. Any guidance we provide is for information only and must be checked by you
    3. In making your booking with us, you accept the risks and hazards of a cycling activity, including the dangers inherent in cycling either on the road or off the road, such as falls, collisions, and unpredictable road or trail conditions.
    4. Minors may participate accompanied by their parents and/or guardians only.
    5. It is in the own area of responsibility of all persons included in the booking that they can cope with the requirements of a bike tour with regard to their health (e.g. physical activity over a period of several hours). The offered service is unfortunately not suitable for travellers with reduced mobility.
    6. All persons included in the booking are responsible for their own compliance with the local Highway Code and are strongly advised to wear a helmet and appropriate protective accessories during their ride.
  8. Our Liability to You
    1. We will assume liability as part of our duty of care of a prudent businessman for the diligent organisation of our services. The basis for booking will be the prices and descriptions of services and bicycles applicable at the time of booking and/or any information stated on the booking confirmation/invoice.
    2. We are not liable for any injury, illness, death, damage, loss (direct or indirect, however caused), expense, cost, or claim of any kind arising from:
      1. acts or omissions by you or any member of your group;
      2. acts or omissions of third parties unconnected with the travel services included in your booking that were unforeseeable or unavoidable;
      3. unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances beyond our control, whose consequences could not have been avoided even with all reasonable measures;
      4. theft of bicycles or injuries resulting from cycling on or off road, including those caused by using your own personal equipment, or by failure to use appropriate safety equipment, such as helmets.
    4. We reserve the right to refuse bicycle rental to anyone who is clearly under the influence of alcohol or any other illegal substance, or to anyone who is unable to use the bicycle, as well as to anyone who has previously breached rental conditions.
    5. Any activities, restaurants and/or other venues that we may refer to are not under our direct control and have not been inspected by us. Therefore any mention of them is merely an indication that these facilities have proved popular with other guests and are not a personal recommendation by us, nor can we accept any liability for any damage, loss, cost, expense or other sum(s) of any description arising out of or as a result of any such activities, restaurants and/or other venues.
    6. AlgarveCycling strongly recommends that you obtain travel insurance to cover unforeseen events, cancellations, or medical emergencies. For details on AlgarveCycling's insurance options covering medical treatment, damage, roadside assistance, and bike theft, see item 14.
  9. Equipment Responsibility, Maintenance and Financial Liability
    1. All AlgarveCycling bicycles are professionally serviced before delivery to ensure they are in optimal working condition. However, bicycles may require tuning or routine maintenance during your rental period, which is your responsibility and at your expense.
    2. You are responsible for all equipment provided and must return it in the same condition. Any loss, damage, or theft occurring during the rental period is your financial responsibility. Applicable replacement values in case of total loss or theft can be found on our website. In the event of theft, you are obliged to report the incident to the nearest Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) or Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR) station and provide AlgarveCycling with the official police report.
    3. You must inspect the bicycle and accessories upon collection and report any defects or damages immediately. AlgarveCycling covers the cost of damages caused by equipment failures beyond your control, such as damage during transport or worn parts. To be eligible for a refund on these parts or services, you must contact AlgarveCycling as soon as possible and, if required, provide documentation or photos of the issue.
    4. AlgarveCycling is responsible for structural issues such as damaged frames, worn bottom brackets, suspension faults, or wheel hub defects.
    5. AlgarveCycling is not responsible for the following after the bike and equipment have been accepted in good condition:

      6. Damaged or stripped threads on pedal cranks
      7. Any damage resulting from use or misuse beyond AlgarveCycling’s control

    7. Please note that some bicycle frames and wheels may fail under excessive load. If you are planning a bikepacking activity that requires carrying more, please contact AlgarveCycling before finalising your booking.
