This exclusive guided group tour combines cycling with unforgettable experiences off the bike. Itinerary
Our adventure begins at the comfortable 5-star hotel, where you meet your main guide, Luís, and your fellow travelers who will share this journey with you. After settling in, Luís introduces you to your bike, offering a detailed briefing and making sure everything is perfectly adjusted for the upcoming days. In the evening, we come together to celebrate the start of our trip with a welcome dinner at one of Olhão’s authentic local restaurants - your first delicious taste of the Algarve’s coastal cuisine. Over great food and conversation, we look ahead to the coming days and raise a glass to the adventures that await us.
After a filling breakfast, you meet your guides for our first ride - an inspiring loop through the heart of the Algarve. Leaving Olhão behind, we follow quiet country roads lined with olive and almond trees, passing peaceful villages where life moves at its own gentle pace. The route leads us over rolling hills and toward the elegant surroundings of Quinta do Lago, offering stunning views and plenty of moments to enjoy the ride. Along the way, Luís shares local stories and insights, making this first cycling day a perfect introduction to the Algarve’s beauty and rhythm.
Today, we ride inland from the coast toward the Eco-Cork Factory in São Brás de Alportel, a family-run business with roots in the region’s cork traditions dating back to the 19th century. As the route climbs, olive groves give way to majestic cork oak forests, and quiet villages offer glimpses of everyday Algarve life far from the tourist trail. At the factory, we discover how cork is harvested and transformed by skilled hands using methods passed down through generations - an authentic, close-up encounter with the people and traditions behind one of Portugal’s most iconic materials.
This morning, our first stop is a historic, family-run salina, where sea water, sun, and wind are still transformed into the Algarve’s renowned ‘white gold’ using traditional hand-harvesting methods. We then cycle through the sparkling waterways and salt flats of Ria Formosa Natural Park, keeping an eye out for graceful flamingos. In Faro, a local expert guide leads us through narrow streets and hidden corners, sharing stories of the city’s past and revealing places that only locals know. Afterwards, we ride back to Olhão, taking in the final views of the landscape as the day winds down.
After a good night’s sleep, we set off through the rolling Algarve countryside and climb up toward the hills above Loulé. There, we arrive at Quinta da Tôr, a family estate with long-standing roots in the village and its surrounding mountains. Set near Loulé’s Roman bridge, the winery is known for its traditional Algarve flavours and welcoming atmosphere. During our guided visit, we learn about the estate’s history and see how their wines are made, followed by a relaxed tasting with views over the vineyards. Afterwards, a scenic transfer takes us back to Olhão, ending the day with the pleasant memory of good wine and the stories behind each bottle.
On day six, we set off from Olhão for a cycling loop through the Algarve countryside toward Moncarapacho. Our destination is Monterosa, a traditional olive grove and mill known for its high-quality, award-winning oils. During our stroll through the groves, we learn about the different olive varieties and how they are gathered. At the mill, we see both traditional and modern techniques used to produce their olive oil, from pressing to bottling, followed by a tasting of fresh, flavourful oils. On the ride back via Fuseta, the sparkling waters, salt flats, and lagoon views of the Ria Formosa accompany us, bringing the day to a scenic close.
Today brings a true highlight: a boat takes us through the Ria Formosa to the barrier island of Culatra, where we experience the island from a distinctly local point of view. As we glide across the sparkling Algarve waters, we’re introduced to the rhythm of island life and the landscape that shapes it. We stop at a small oyster farm to see how the oysters are cultivated and savour them fresh from the water, then continue exploring Culatra’s quiet streets, dunes, and sandy paths. We round off the experience with a fresh, flavourful lunch, enjoying the sun, the sea, and the island’s relaxed pace - a perfect taste of the Algarve’s coastal magic.
